The Blog of Lee Coleé

After 30 some odd years working in opera, dance, stage, film, music theatre, and cabarets all across the US, she’s ready to pack all of that creative prowess into a tiny padded cave with just her and a mic for her next adventure in the world of voiceover.

It must be so tedious at times to deal with the unknown VO talent wanting to convince you they are the fabulous answer to ALL of you prayers. It is also tedious to most VOs  forced into the marketing jungle and compelled to get your attention.

You must be drowning in demos! Or maybe you delete them as fast as they come in. Or you have staff who listens and only forward to you the ones deemed worthy: (Its what I’d do!)

A day in your life has to be hectic ! I’d love to be a fly on your wall, hear all the complaints, the unfiltered truths about issues with VOs, other clients and the juicy details on what projects are coming up.

With the world of tuning so crazy I had a weird dream. What if we VOs were the clients? The produces, ADVT agencies, casting directors and agents were the talent and they had to let US choose who to work with and which projects to take on. We would welcome your efforts:

What skills would we look for?
Whose phone call would we accept?
How would demos be submitted?
Who would make me the most money?
Who would make me famous?
Who would I brag about the most,  having them on my rooter?

Wouldn’t this be fun for at least a week? And maybe the agencies and directors we selected to work for kept us contracted for at least a year. I love this industry!
