Not that long ago I had a tarot card reading from a fellow VO who is also a professional psychic. I had hit career doldrums and on a whim, I decided to see what visions she could see for me. I really had no expectations, just a curiosity in how all this stuff works.

She told me quite a few things but career wise, I probably wouldn’t see things starting to happen until the spring. Then, I would become very busy. Four days later, boom! I landed a huge gig that took me to London in the UK. My student load increased and auditions came in so fast I almost couldn’t keep up. I contacted my friend and called her a fraud because she got the time factor wrong! Four days! Spring was still four months away.

So, I just got back from my gig in the UK and it was the hardest I’ve ever worked in years! Due to a non disclosure agreement I can’t divulge details yet. But my work will be seen nationally later this year. Aside from the jet lag, I had a blast being able to showcase my operatic skills, dancing prowess AND voice over talents. Probably more important than that, was I utilized every improv and comedic chops I never knew I had. Was it stressful? Yes! Was it exhausting? Definitely!

I made some fantastic contacts and fast friends with cast, crew and the production team. This is a performer’s ultimate dream! To land a job that stretches you, is a joy, to create something as part of a team and leave knowing your contribution made a difference.

Boasting a bit here, but several members of the executive production team confided I was likely going to be a season highlight and fan favorite. And I can’t even tell my agents about it yet!

I’m not going to dwell on edits landing on the cutting room floor but now that I’m back home, sleep has been my primary pastime and it all seems like a dream since I keep having flashbacks.

What I can tell you is nothing is what it seems to be when it comes to on camera work. I’m hungry now for more! Both on camera and behind the mic. Bring it on! Oh, another audition just came in!

Seriously, be careful what you wish for because God and the Universe definitely have a sense of humor!
